Bringing new life to old buildings is not a new story by any means and it most definitely is not a new story in our little town of Burton. In scrolling through the wonderful Portal to Texas History, we recently came across more articles in the Brenham Banner Press written by our local “Renaissance man” Will Weeren, also known as “Sawdust Bill” and his thoughts on this topic. So we thought it would be nice to share here in light of some recent lively discussions via social media — to give some perspective on this “old” conversation that seems more timely than ever. As with all good discussions/debates, we like to share such things to give everyone some food for thought. And on this Veteran’s Day, we salute all our veterans who fought for our rights to have these kinds of discussions in a free country.
